He attended University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig (Hochschule für Bildende Künste) and in 1981 went on to the Düsseldorf Fine Arts Academy. Together with Ingo Maurer he designed the halogen lamp Minimum, presented in various European museums. Since 1990, over and above his activities as an artist, he has been designing and developing prototypes of minimalist and linear objects in steel and wood.He has exhibited in Cologne, Chicago, Milan and Korttrijk (Belgium). He works with other Italian companies such as Allglass, Boffi, Cappellini, Porro and Living Divani. For Boffi he designed the Flat kap hood in 2002.
